This is yet another horrific account of the animals that live among us and rob the community of the beauty trying to grow in it. A young couple, Nia Haqq and Michael Muchioki who had just become engaged after Christmas were toasted at an engagement party for them hours before they were both shot twice in the head and left on the street in front of Muchioki’s home Easter morning. Local ABC affiliate for Jersey City reported that the murders are a result of a botched car jacking.
The wonderful thing, if there could possibly be a bright side, is their assailants have been caught. The animals: Darnelia Lawrence, 19, Latonya Bellamy, 19, and her cousin Shiquan Bellamy, 19, are all in custody. Shiquan was already locked up on an unrelated drug charge when the girls were captured. What is even more ridiculous is that Latonya Bellamy was a recipient of a scholarship for an essay she wrote about her mother, as well as a nursing student. What was on her mind?
These young people who killed the couple could not possibly know the scope or depth of what they have done. They are lost and now will never be found. If they do find any type of enlightenment it will be from the inside of a cell. Because mother of victim Nia Haqq and the rest of her family and friends will ensure they never see the light of day. Check out the story below. A full account of the tragic events are here in the New Jersey’s Star-Ledger. You can also check out a “remembrance” video put together by their family and friends below the report.
Rest in Peace Nia and Michael.
A TRIBUTE TO NIA HAQQ & MICHAEL MUCHIOKI:
