This story would’ve made it into our infamous Jokey Joke category had it been funny. But, I’m on the fence of this being a joke and it being the worst car wreck of exploitive journalism I think I’ve ever seen. Residents of Mobile, Al., gave their most genuine accounts of leprechaun sightings in their neighborhood (which of course we all know is a joke), but the people that were interviewed ended up dwarfing the story.
Have you ever seen a breaking news story and watched the cameraman give 15 minutes to Craig and Junebug and all of a sudden you lost complete sight of the story due to their missing teeth (or gold teeth) and their rendition of the event that clearly screams, “They were not there.”
Well, this incident, or report, is no different. The only reason we have any clue that this story is about a leprechaun siting is from the local NBC affiliate anchors that summarize what you are about to see. Check it out!
