Who would’ve guessed that President Obama’s little remark about Vegas would be stretched so far out of proportion. Do you remember last year when he said, “You can’t take a trip to Las Vegas or down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers’ dime,” Obama said then during a town hall meeting in Elkhart, Ind.” and Las Vegas’s mayor demanded an apology. From the President? Are you serious? The remarks were made toward bank officials who were bailed out and he was giving an example of how NOT to spend those monies. But that didn’t stop Las Vegas’ mayor, Oscar Goodman, from beginning a rant aimed at the President.
Now the President is back and, maybe he couldn’t help himself, but he had more to say about Las Vegas. The visit was supposed to be pleasant this time as they have agreed to stop funding a nuclear waste repository that apparently was taking good money that could be used in a much better way. Rep. Shelley Berkley, a democrat, then proceeded to blast the President saying, “I don’t know if Obama has a problem with Las Vegas, but I have a problem with Obama,” she said. “”This is the second time he has made a comment that is harmful to the city of Las Vegas and the people I represent. It is incomprehensible to me that he should not only repeat the same mistake but continue to insult the people and industry I represent.”
All of that because he simply said to a crowd of people in a town hall meeting in Nashua, N.H., not “blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you’re trying to save for college.”
