Once again, someone out there is enamored with the thought that black men are suffering from a sort of “white flight.” While it’s true that you may see a lot of successful entertainers and athletes with white women … In the hood? Not so much. But one website is exploring the fascination with white women and has started a dialogue for everyone to weigh in on.
The site, afieldnegro.com, has put together a plethora of examples that may or may not be surprising in an effort to open up the floor to this discussion. Black men and women have been in the crosshairs of the world for centuries. The only unusual dynamic playing itself out in black relationships is that in the trenches, we aren’t getting closer, we are at war there too. It should be a fascinating undertaking to find out why.

Black men can date whomever they choose to. Black women can date whomever they choose. My problem is when a black woman dates a white man, why do the black men call her a sell out???? I am soooo confused as to why the double standard. I love all colors of men and I will date outside my race. As far as a black man saying they are tired of the black womens drarm, black women are tired of the drama they get from the black man and then decide “enough is enough, there has to be something better”. So don’t think that you (black men) are making us worry about a white women taking our black men. I say “good ridance” and move on.

alwaysalady….if indeed you are, you wouldn’t ask such an asinine question. Bitter doesn’t come in any color, whether I’m with a man or not is not even impt. here. Self hatred comes in all colors but is deeply prevalent in the Black race. It is clear many of our men do not value their women, or the womb that they came out of. These same men would have been hung in public square for all to admire their body parts charred and burned, for dating outside their race or even looking at a white woman. The chronic amnesia of our ppl today is a condition that shows how disturbed we really are….post traumatic slave syndrome, chalked up as colorless love, any excuse will do so long as self black hatred continues.

I read a book eons ago titled, “The Sexual Life Between Blacks & Whites- The Roots of Racism” by Beth Day. It expounds on the psyche of blacks and whites during the slavery era and explains the myth that has been perpetrated throughout history. Check it out.
My personal opinion is SOME black men feel threatened with a woman who has a brain and can really think with it…
Also, SOME black men feel that a white woman is the Rolls Royce of women, with Asian women following second as the Benzs, etc. — with the black woman ranking only as a Cadillac (this is MY analogy). And even then as a “Caddie” she’ll be “light, bright, and damn near white.”
Therefore, if you find a brother who makes good bank, has a comma after his name (MD, Ph.D, Esq., etc.), you’ll find he feels he DESERVES certain “status symbols.”
I did a personal poll and randomly asked brothers why they didn’t date black women (my own brothers included) and the most prevalent answers were 1) Black women bring too much drama; 2) Black women are money hungry.
What I countered back to them is–IF they TREATED the black woman the same way they TREAT a white woman, PERHAPS there would be no drama.
AND, I replied IF they don’t know that that same white woman wouldn’t have anything to do with them IF they were Joe Average, they are delusional. Tiger probably never thought Elin would go “ghetto” on him. But girlfriend isn’t stupid–she gets HALF! Kobe’s wife didn’t have to do anything but wait–she got a “house on a finger.” So our rich black men must realize that the SISTA that was with you BEFORE you go famous is DESERVING of the lifestyle you are giving the white woman (status symbol) you selected as now DESERVING to be on ARM. That’s the basis of the war between black men and black women.
President Obama will always have my respect in that area. He selected a SISTA–A strong, brown-skinned, tall BEFORE he went to the White House and he shows his unconditional love for her where ever they are. His biracial heritage allowed him to go “either way” and he did not choose a white woman like his mother.
I could go on and on, but that’s enough to chew on…

The only problems I have is if a BM dates interracially, don’t use me, a Black Woman, as an excuse to do so. Also, if you’re out and about with whomever, don’t disrespect me or any other BW trying to prove a point.

When I heard about this blog I HAD to check it out! However, I do believe that it is a bit skewed. While there are many black male celebrities that choose a spouse that is not a black women, there are also many successful black males that choose a spouse that is black.
Obama, Jay-Z, Nelly, Usher, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, Morris Chestnut, Chris Brown, Samuel L Jackson, Jeffrey Wright, Isaiah Washington, etc.
While some of these men couldn’t make their relationships work, they were still @ one time, attached to a black women. I don’t think it should matter, but maybe I am naive. We love who we love and we are fortunate enough to live in a society where you can find a place to live peacefully and love someone outside of your own race. We should embrace that. Not disgrace those who choose to do so. While I am a white women that agrees with Terri: “I love all colors of men and I will date outside my race.” I find it a complete turn-off when a man refuses to date within his race. That is self hatred.

Terri: This is a male insecurity, regardless of their color or yours. If you are dating outside of your race, males within your race will always call you out. That’s their issue, don’t make it yours.

Why does everyone assume that it is the black man who loves white women? It just may be that it’s the white women who love black men. It can also be said that white women are brought up to believe that you marry a man who can provide well for you, and all else is secondary.
Black women aren’t quite so eager to accept a man just because he has a large bankroll because along with that bankroll are all kinds of complications unrelated to finances. We have to remember they are still just plain ole’ men with money.
Maybe in the younger years, we -black women – expect a lot from men, but perhaps that is because we deserve a lot from men. Unfortunately, I feel that black men don’t feel that black women are deserving of the glitz and glamour of an affluant lifestyle and financially stable black women don’t feel the need to deal with emotionally unstable black men with inferiority complexes.
When black men don’t love themselves enough to self preserve, the end result will be the demise of the entire black race in America.
Just my thoughts on the subject.

I mean really. Who the hell cares? Our people accept everybody. Is the blog saying black girls should somehow lower their standards in order to compete for a few crabapples. Plus, there are plenty of black men happily married to sisters. To name a few: Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Courtney B. Vance, Ben Carson, Barack Obama, etc. I don’t want MY son marrying outside but I can’t stop him since ALL of us desire comfort and if he gets comfortable with YOU, you can keep him! Most of these pictures are dead wrong anyway. Jimmy Walker is NOT dating Ann Coulter. Some of the pictures show folk who are now divorced like Wayne Brady, etc. Michael Jordan was a serial cheater. Should my daughter aspire to his type for money? Lots of athletes have black wives also. Whatever. All are qualified and because all are qualified that gives us black men the right to choose who we want to be with. As soon as a Black man is broke the first to say “I dont want him” is a Black Women. So sad with the double standards. What about the Black Women with the husband that isnt BLACK?

But when they get in trouble, and the whites turn on there ass, don’t come running back. Let The white race help you….lol. Just stay where you’re at. I know I’m not gonna waste my time wondering where is my black night when ther are so many other men to talk to. The world DOES NOT revolve around black men. I don’t want to repeat what others have said, cause many of the posters are on point about the mind state of most black men today (anything not black is better). This is not an exaggerated or sensationalized issue. 42% of marriage age black women have never been married, compared to only 22% of white women. When you consider the fact that only 13% of the american population is black, that amounts to a significant portion of the black female population unmarried. Unavailabilty of eligible males has been attributed to the problem. Add to the equation that many black men are simply not even considering black women, and you get a very visible phenomenon. I know several pretty, educated and classy black women who are unmarried or perpetually dating. I’ve been out before with pretty black women, and the black men in the room were not even looking at the black women in the room. It was as if we did not exist. Interracial dating is great. But why exclude an entire race of women? Especially when you are a member of that race. While black women broadening their dating pool is a good idea, practically it won’t provide a solution to the overall abundance of unmarried black women. Because most black women do not fit in to the mainstream standard of beauty.So alot of non black men simply will not be able to appreciate our physical beauty. Not to mention, white men are more concerned with choosing a partner accepted by their family and friends than white women are.Unfortunately,many black women are going to end up alone, and raising more kids alone. Without a strong black family unit, we will consider to see the demise of the black race. We black people need to take a page out of jewish people’s (the most prosperous race of people on the earth) book. The jewish communnity is so strong and prosperous because of thier solidaarity. Something that the black community lacks, and as far as I can see, may never attain.

I for one do not see any problem with black guys with white women I am so proud of my brothers atleast they are not sneaking and hiding like my forefathers(who were white )did with my grammys who were black.
I am from south Louisiana and it is not unusual to see a 70 something to 80 something black man or woman ,who if they were to leave Louisiana and want to claim white you could not really tell so mixing the race has been around a long time .We have a joke we tell around here. When you are shaking your family tree “be very careful because you may be very surprised what falls out.
Back in the day i heard so many guys with white skins and black say “iam going to marry as black as i can because i want my grands to be black,and the trend was on for a while,but i see it being reversed. More white girls down here are having biracial babies and vice versa”aint nothing more beautiful as a biracial or multiracial child.I think that America should get over that white/black thing.

Zee is correct in pointing out that “irregardless” is a double negative but it is a word that has been used since 1940′s in North America when education took a nose dive. Zee, you should have explained that the correct form is “regardless” or “irrespective”. Regarding African American women, I have to say that I am intimidated by their seemingly aggressive attitude but I will easily date Black women of another nationality.

First of all, some of these women are Latina and Asian- not the same as White American. Secondly, it is quite funny to me that Black American women are viewed as hypersexual, money hungry etc, but when a White American woman engages in said behavior it is not labeled as such(just look at the number of White American women that serve as mistresses to these celebs/athletes). I have heard many Black American men say that it is easier for them to date White American women. To me, that just means that they do not want to try to improve anything about themselves while participating in demonizing Black American women who demand better standards of treatment by them. Also, obviously White American men are taking advantage of their(Black American men who actively choose not to date Black American women)loss. There are a number of Black American celeb women who are dating/married to White men(Paula Patton, Alfre Woodard, Halle Berry etc). So, what does this say about the Black American men who say “it is so difficult” to maintain a relationship with a successful Black American woman?

This is a bit juvenile. First off, not all the women featured are “white.” Jordan’s fiance is Cuban. Only small-minded folks think anything that isn’t ‘black’ to be the equivalent to white. Mekhi Phifer is obviously with an Asian woman and Nicole Threatt, Dr. Dre’s wife is racially mixed and has been by his side forever. So in my book it’s more about a woman you can count on, not so much her complexion. Tiger Woods has been with a plethora of white women and they old sold him out. Now, to say a sister wouldn’t have done the same thing would be foolish. It’s about the nature of the woman and what she’s really about.

I am trying to understand why any of this matters. I am of Aboriginal Descent, We are dark. My husband is Irish, My eldest is involved with a person whom is considered white. and everyone in my family is married to someone of a different race(latin,figian,New zeland,asian)a. I am not putting anyone down, I am just trying to understand the logistics behind the concern of inter-racial relationships.

Everyone here have a point…I for one hated the whole blck men/white women when I was in high school all because I’ll look around as a 15-16 year old and see single blck mothers struggling while blck men were taking care of a white women and for the record to be a teen and see this going on you wonder wtf is going on do blck men hate us or sumthin, but then I realize as I got older that you could find love within in any race I dated outside my race a couple of times and even though I’m might see sumone a differ race attractive I still love my blck men

Some of you women on here are so biased and ignorant. Maybe you should assume when a man marries any woman, that he married her because he loves her, until or if his behavior shows otherwise. I am biracial, and I could care less what black men like! My husband is Latino, and Latino men love black women. Men like what is exotic or different to them, and sometimes in their curiosity they find lifelong compatibility. Instead of putting black men and their white women down, you should be focusing on being a good person so that someone can fall in love with you one day. Why do you have to hate and make up negative reasons for why someone marries outside his race, just because you are jealous? Pray about your jealousy instead, and find a man who loves you. Love is blind. Yeah you can argue that some of these men are out for trophies, that could be the case with anyone. It’s not for you to judge!
