Watch out Amsterdam, the U.S. is pushing the envelope with its first legal Mary Jane restaurant and cafe. But while Portland, Oregon is home to the first ”Cannabis Cafe,” its patrons have an exclusive membership in the National Organization for the Reform of the Marijuana Laws (NORML). And now that everyone knows who can get in, their membership will more than likely, skyrocket.
AOL’s Daily Finance reports that Oregon is home to 21,000 legal marijuana users. The Cannabis Cafe will open its doors to them, but again, they have to be NORML members as well. Surely no one will have a problem with jumping through hoops to come to the cafe and get their smokes for FREE and have a meal. You didn’t hear me? That’s right, SMOKE FOR FREE. Can you hear me now? Now you do have to pay $25 per month as a member of the cafe, but how many of you out there are spending more than that per week?
The drug, while it is not as harsh as others, is still banned in the U.S., but many are still fighting to have it legalized. Other shop owners in the neighborhood have mixed feelings about the former adult entertainment club Rumpspankers reopening as a weed bar. But for right now, they aren’t passing judgement. They are just hopeful that it will drive traffic into their establishments.
