Everyone knows about “shopping while black.” Same scenario as driving while black, right?
Well, in an effort to make sure that black folks aren’t lying about it and/or playing the race card, ABC put together a little experiment to see if they would actually find that there are racists in retail.
Sure enough, THERE WERE! Eureka! They struck racist gold!
The experiment took a turn for the worse though when one woman was overwhelmed by the experiment and began to cry right in the store. She couldn’t believe that the store clerk (which was really an actress) was actually trying to get her to side with her about her treatment of the black customer (also an actress).
But that’s only one reaction, the clerk actually caught a brotha in the store with his family.
The joke stopped there. Check it out:

It takes people like the white women who walked out with the sister to truly combat racism and bad behavior. That moment when they walked out and others followed is a true sign that numbers count. Very reminescent of boycott action.

As a young black man who this has happen to on many different fronts, i was glad to see this experiment done. it allows me to gauge the amount of consumer protection i have when out shopping and being “looked after” by associates. the crux of this experiment testifies to Dispersion of Responsibility. and it shows that people are still fish in a sea of sharks. i think it’s disgusting what the first man said about the lady and that he tried to hide it when asked about it. if you don’t see the two-faced response in that, you’re a sad person. it made me sooooo proud to see the white lady defend that girl. this was a completely necessary experiment and i’m glad it was done.
