It just doesn’t pay to be a good Samaritan these days. Banks don’t appreciate heroics on the part of their tellers. They feel that it would possibly cause the situation to escalate rather than keep everyone safe, including their tellers. Key Bank is strictly by the book as it pertains to bank robberies. A teller in their Seattle, Wa., branch was left holding the bag for his effort to thwart a robbery attempt.
But, not only did teller Jim Nicholson, 30, refuse to give up the cash, according to the Associated Press, he confronted the man, threw down the bag he wanted him to fill and gave chase. He caught the alleged robber, who was found to have a lengthy criminal record. But, once the dust settled on the incident, Nicholson was out of a job.
