A lot of us would like to eat at home more often, but something about the restaurants and/or fast food restaurants keep calling us. We know we can’t duplicate our favorite meals at home, so we cheat and go sit down and pay too much for our experience. But all that may be getting ready to change. Former finance manager, Ron Douglas, has produced a book, “America’s Most Wanted Recipes.” One recipe that he’s sure he’s duplicated and cracked the code of is the colonel’s 11 herbs and spices used at KFC since 1940.
But, he doesn’t stop there, he has recipes from Applebee’s, IHOP, The Cheesecake Factory and many others. Aside from “exposing” these recipes, you have to respect his hustle. This reminds me of a time, long, long ago (in Internet years that is, probably 2005) when someone was claiming to expose Mrs. Field’s cookie recipe. He was probably a fortunate recipient of that urban legend and had a great idea that has made him some big bucks. He sold 50,000 copies of his book when he published it independently. But, he’s been picked up by Simon & Schuster and he has a full fledged business selling his book of recipes.
I love food, but I could never parlay my love of food into such a lucrative career change. He was a finance manager for Pete’s sake! Go brother! We salute you hustleman! Check him out here.
