First Lady Unveils New Sojourner Truth Statue

With all the criticism that Michelle Obama has taken over the last few months it’s about time she can let her hair down and say “I’m home” with all the enthusiasm and comfort she used in her Chicago home.  Sojourner Truth and the First Lady both having their “firsts” together has given Michelle a lift and also all the women who attended the unveiling of the statue.

The First lady was quite emotional in sharing this momentous occasion saying “I hope that Sojourner Truth would be proud to see me, a descendant of slaves, serving as the first lady of the United States of America.”  And certainly she is Michelle as we all are.

A surprise that awaited more than 150 girls, mostly minorities,  that the First Lady invited for dinner at the White House, was that they were paired up with women like actress Debbie Allen, black female astronaut Mae Jemison and Rutgers University basketball coach Vivian Stringer.
