We don’t know if you saw it or not, but Monday night the devil’s son, er, Simon Cowell, was on “The Tonight Show” and told host Jay Leno that President Obama invited him to dinner, but he didn’t have time. Yeah, uh huh.
Somehow we suspect Mr. Cowell was just talking smack in own patented dry acerbic way. After all the comment came as part of his response to Leno who asked him how he felt about Mr. Obama using him as a metaphor for his critics.
“I do think Washington … it’s a little bit like ‘American Idol,’ except everybody is like Simon Cowell,” Obama quipped to Leno last week.
The “American Idol” judge told Leno: “I think what he was trying to say was Washington has become more intelligent.” Simon then said Obama wanted to have dinner with him, but he was busy.
“He wanted to do 8, I was free at 9. We just didn’t quite connect. But I said, anytime I’m in Washington.”
Later, after the show, backstage, Cowell told “Extra!” that Obama’s use of his name meant, “Washington has become more truthful, more honest, more sincere … more intelligent.”
Gotta love that devilish Simon.
