Obama Says NO to Prayer With Stimulus

Obama is experiencing his first round of head to heads with the Republicans. But, in true black man style, he said, “Hey! Wait a minute! Don’t start blaming this mess on me.  This mess was here when I got here and if it weren’t for you Republicans we wouldn’t be in this mess.  Also, watch your mouth when you refer to me, I’m the one you elected remember?” (loosely translated)

But now the latest grumbles pertain to the part of the stimulus package that says, none of the money in the package will be used for the “modernization, renovation, or repair” of buildings that allow “sectarian instruction, religious worship or a school or department of divinity.”

A few people are bent out of shape because this doesn’t seem fair to exclude these businesses that engage in prayer and/or religious duty or act from a property because it is receiving federal money.  And we hate to side with anything the republicans are doing, but it doesn’t seem fair that our children won’t get an overhaul to their schools because they pray in them.   But, something seems fishy and surely the republicans are using this as a ploy to get more people to side with them on revamping the stimulus package.  Read here and tell us what you think.

  1. Don’t those schools get tax breaks? Don’t parents pay an arm and a leg to send their kids there? I don’t think it’s just because the kids pray, but because of those other reasons. Wasn’t there alway supposed to be a separation of church and state? So why is it unusual that this would exclude those schools?
Many churches are stackin because they don’t have to pay taxes. If this is the case with the religious schools, then I think this is fair.
