Teenager Caught In His Own Noose

19. August 2008

The Jena 6 demonstrators were quite peaceful, but someone thought that there was no place for “those people” at all.  Jeremiah Munsen, 19, thought that he was within his right to intimidate those returning to Tennessee by hanging nooses from the back of his pick-up truck.  The crowd had demonstrated in a civil march near the bus station where Munsen thought he’d display his nooses. Obviously, with the Jena 6 incident stemming from a noose this kid can’t be too bright. Malcolm talked about chickens coming home to roost, but this is more like getting hung by your own noose.  Read the full story and sentencing for Munsen here.

Soaring gas prices have infiltrated every area of our lives causing everything we love to skyrocket in price.  Everyone has had to tighten their belts and cut down on the treats.  You can’t even buy a candy bar or your favorite detergent without noticing the price has gone up on it…even at Wal-Mart.  The government is reporting that wholesale inflation shot up in July, making prices for the past year rise faster than they have in 27 years.  And to make things worse, housing construction has reported the worst drop in production since 1991.  This sounds like Y2K right?  Run for your lives! Go out and buy all the water and toilet tissue you can because the prices are going up and the food is being compromised!  For an update, go here.

Teens Behind Illegal Immigrant Death

The justice system has cracked down on three teens that are allegedly responsible for the beating death of an illegal immigrant.  They may have thought that the judge would slap them on the wrists because of their ages (16, 17, and 18) but it appears that if convicted of the crime, the judge won’t be so lenient.  Although, the judge did throw out first or second degree murder charges which would’ve made them eligible for life sentences.  To make things worse for the defendants, the ”snitching” rule was thrown out the window when a friend of the boys testified by giving a detailed account of the beating as well as recalled derogatory racial slurs hurled at the victim in the past.  The victim leaves behind two small children and a fiancee’ who is the mother of his children.  Read the full story here.

It appears that the days of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson are long behind Ed McMahon now.  He is the economy’s newest victim of foreclosure.  McMahon defaulted on the loan for his 6-bedroom Beverly Hills mansion and was trying to work it out…just as a lot of us are.  But, before they could call the U-Haul trucks, Donald Trump stepped in to save the day…sorta.  Trump was devastated to see the famous talk show sidekick on the news with his pockets turned inside out, but he’s a businessman first.  He admits moments of nostalgia over America’s well known sweepstakes man, but first the details of who owns what had to be ironed out.  Trump agreed to help out the embattled media mogul, but only if he gets to be his landlord.  You gotta respect the man’s game.  He didn’t get to be the billion dollar man giving out free rides.  Check out the details here.

Thousands Licensed to Wed On The 8’s

China is partial to the number 8, so it is no surprise that they planned major things on the 8’s…also known as August 8, 2008.   Is it a coincidence that they planned that date for the opening of the Olympics?  One would think not.  In addition to the Olympics is the dramatic influx of lovebirds to the altar.  They probably believe that their day will be immensely blessed if they are at least licensed to wed on that date.  If 10,000 people show up to get a license what’s the odds of them finding a minister to perform all those nuptials? Some have opted to only have a ceremony on that day and wait another day for the reception.  They’ve already thought about the odds of getting a hall.  Wonder what’s gonna happen next year on September 9, 2009.  Check out the particulars to this interesting day here.

It’s no secret that Obama has plenty of detractors out there that would like to do nothing more than smear the man’s good name.  But, obviously, that’s a formidable task for the media as well as his opponent, John McCain.  The charismatic democratic presidential candidate has had more than his share of trouble out of conservatives, but his supporters have run amuck during his campaign as well.  Both sides are eager to get to the center of Obama to see what makes him tick. Obama has written books “The Audacity of Hope” and “Dreams From My Father” which have both garnered massive sales and media attention, but it appears there are those who want to know more.  The newest collection of books attempt to paint a picture of the other side of “The Obama Nation” which intrigues supporters and opponents alike.  Read here for the latest tactics from those who just don’t get it.
